Living is not Forever

What doth it profit a man if he gains the whole world,
And suffers the loss of all he has and his eternal soul.
A man who lives not for tomorrow, but only for today
Where life is just eat, drink and be merry, so why pray.

His wealth can buy him power, fame and mistresses,
And yet cannot stop a day more, the ageing processes
And soon when Dr Death comes a knocking at the door,
Alas, poor man, he will not make it to a hundred and four.

What doth it profit a man even if he has led a happy life,
A large family filled with happy children and a loving wife.
For by three scores and ten, it's time to prepare for the end
For we can't live forever, time to say goodbye soon my friend

So what doth it profit a man, if he has led a life, good or bad
Yet does not know where his soul is going, isn't that very sad
So my beloved friends, with all your money, power and fame,
Did it profit you at all, if you got it all through greed and shame
So after you're gone forever, we may not remember your name
